The Phoenix Office
of Arts and Culture and Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport are marking
the centennial of powered flight with panels in all airport buses that combine
the talents of visual artists and creative writers to express the “Joy
of Flight.” Four teams of Arizona artists and writers created original
artwork that expresses the power, inspiration, creativity and innovation of
flying. The artwork has been reproduced onto 11” x 25” cards which
were installed inside the inter-terminal buses at Phoenix Sky Harbor International
Airport in January, where they will remain through December.
Participating teams are:
Brent Bond, artist & Megan Bates, writer - from Phoenix
Stephen Farley, artist & Rita Maria Magdaleno, writer - from Tucson
Rose Johnson, artist & Diane Freund, writer – from Bisbee
Serena Tang, artist & Jennifer Nichols, writer – from Tucson
Applications for the next
installment of the placards will be due in Fall 2004. For more information,
