The intent of the project was to provide a resting-place within the busy pedestrian corridor around John C. Lincoln Hospital in Sunnyslope. The artists worked with children at three local elementary schools, many of whom were recent immigrants to the United States, to draw animals representing their countries of origin. The artists then created six unique chairs. Each chair is tiled with porcelain, and each contains adaptations of the animals drawn by the children, as well as one Arizona animal to represent America’s ability to welcome newcomers.
