Monday - FridayThe John F. Long Family Services Center operates in partnership with public and private agencies to provide a comprehensive array of onsite services to meet the emergency needs of low-income Phoenix residents.
Client Services Programs
Case Management is provided to help adult individuals and families resolve social service problems and assist them to achieve self-sufficiency.
Examples of assistance provided include: budgeting, education and job training referrals, social and life-skills development, client advocacy, technical assistance, resource development, counseling and direct services to become self-sufficient/self-supporting.
Services may include information and referral, emergency financial assistance for eligible clients experiencing a crisis with utilities and rent. Emergency food boxes and bus tickets are available for qualifying individuals.
Family Self-Sufficiency is a partnership between the Human Services and Housing departments that provides up to five years of case-managed services to assisted housing residents. The services provide the opportunity for economic independence and self-sufficiency. For more information, call 602-534-7679.
A federally funded pre-school program for three- and four-year-olds from income-eligible households. Services include education, health/nutrition, social services, case management, parent involvement and special needs services. For information, call 623-846-6482.
STRIVE - Truancy Prevention Program Online
STRIVE - Truancy Prevention Program Online is a counseling diversion program working with parents and children (ages 6, 7 and 8) who have excessive unexcused absences from school. For more information, call 602-534-1718 or 602-534-5970.
First Offenders Program
The First Offenders Program is a collaboration with Maricopa County Juvenile Court Center and the city’s Human Services and Parks, Recreation and Library departments. FOP offers an alternative for juveniles that committed their first offense. Both parent and juvenile must volunteer to participate in this program. The intent is to offer juveniles and parents information to help develop communication and improve self-confidence. For more information, call 602 495-3794.
Young First Offenders Program
Young First Offenders counsels juvenile first offenders, ages 8 to 12 years old, referred by the juvenile court system for first-offense misdemeanors. The program operates as a partnership between the Parks Department Youth-At-Risk Division and the Human Services Department School-Based Program. For more information, call 602-534-3014.
Neighborhood Services Department
The Neighborhood Services Department provides landlord/tenant counseling and mediation services for landlords, tenants and management agencies. Counselors are available from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesdays. For information, call 602-256-3388.
Non-City Services Available At The Center English As A Second Language
The Gary L. Tang Adult Education Center conducts four half-day classes a week from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday to Thursday. For information, call 623-247-8084.

African Association Of Arizona
This organization promotes greater awareness of African issues through educational and cultural activities and provides assistance to refugee/minority families in the Valley. For more information, call 623-247-4869.
Quest Alliance
Quest Alliance provides life skills and other training and counseling services for developmentally disabled children, adolescents and adults to enhance the opportunity for independent community living. For information, call 623-247-8084.
Catholic Social Services Of Phoenix
Catholic Social Services of Phoenix, with assistance from professionally trained staff and volunteers, provides a variety of services that strengthen, support and give hope to individuals and families. Fees for services are based on program funding and client’s ability to pay. For information, call 602-997-6105.
Southwest Human Development/Healthy Families Maricopa County
This pilot program serves families with newborns up to three months. It provides support services, positive parenting/child development education, referrals and linkages to community resources through a voluntary home visitation program. A parent support group meets from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. on Monday. For information, call 623-247-3101.
Valley-Community Revitalization Project (Valley-Corp)
VALLEY-CORP offers affordable loans and down-payment assistance for first-time homebuyers in Maryvale. Each house is inspected and any required repairs are completed. For information, call Martha Garcia at 623-247-4764.
