Accessible Voting

On Tuesday, Nov. 8, 2011, the City of Phoenix will conduct a Runoff Election in which city voters will elect a mayor and voters in Districts 1 and 5 will elect a council member. This election is required by the City Charter because no candidate for these offices received a majority of the votes cast for the office in the August Election.

Accessible voting devices that permit voters with various disabilities to vote independently will be available for this Election. These electronic voting devices allow voters to cast a ballot using a touch screen. Voters may also vote by listening to an audio version of the ballot and using a keypad designed for the blind and visually impaired to make choices. Both the touch screen and audio versions are available in either English or Spanish.

Accessible voting equipment is available at all voting centers and at the early voting locations. Phoenix City Hall is a voting center and an early voting location. The equipment will be available at City Hall from Oct. 13 through Election Day, Nov. 8. Use the link below for a list of additional early voting locations, voting center locations, and the voting hours at each. Call the election information line at 602-261-VOTE (8683), or Teletypewriter (TTY) at 602-534-2737, for any additional information.
