On Tuesday, Nov. 8, 2011, the City of Phoenix will conduct a Runoff Election in which city voters will elect a mayor and voters in Districts 1 and 5 will elect a council member. This election is required by the City Charter because no candidate for these offices received a majority of the votes cast for the office in the August Election.CONCURRENT ELECTIONS ON NOVEMBER 8
Maricopa County will also be conducting a separate election for several school districts within the City of Phoenix on November 8. There will be separate ballots for the two elections. Voters may vote by mail, or at the polls, in either election.Voting at the Polls
City Election: The City of Phoenix election will be a Voting Center Election. Any City voter may vote in the City election in person at any of the 26 Voting Centers on Saturday, Nov. 5, Monday, Nov. 7 or Tuesday, Nov. 8. CITY VOTERS WHO DO NOT VOTE BY MAIL ARE ENCOURAGED TO VISIT ANY ONE OF THE 26 VOTING CENTERS ON SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 5 AND MONDAY NOVEMBER 7 TO VOTE IN THE RUNOFF ELECTION because most polling places for the school district elections will be different than the City’s Voting Centers on Election Day.County / School District Election: Voting Centers will not be used for the school district election.The school district election conducted by Maricopa County will be a traditional polling place election. Voters who go to the polls to cast a ballot will be required to vote at their designated polling place. The polling places for the school district election will only be open on Tuesday, November 8, from 6 am to 7 pm and most will not be the same locations as the City’s Voting Centers. Refer to the information provided by Maricopa County or the school district for polling place locations.
