This request is for a location transfer of a Series 9 liquor license from Scottsdale for a convenience store that sells gas. This location was not previously licensed for liquor sales and does not have an interim permit. This location requires a Use Permit for packaged alcohol sales within 300 feet of a residential zoning district. This business is currently under construction with plans to open in April 2010. This location is not within 2,000 feet of a proposed light rail station.

I have the capability, qualifications, and reliability to hold a liquor license because: "Circle K requires all store personnel to attend an in‑house training program. This training is designed to provide a safe and positive customer service environment. As part of the Circle K training program, we provide an Alcohol Training Program that meets the requirements of the Arizona Department of Liquor License Control. Employees must pass a test on Techniques of Alcohol Management that becomes part of their employee file. Store managers are required to attend additional in-house manager training and obtain certification from the Arizona Department of Liquor License Control. This certification requires submission of fingerprints and includes a background investigation."

The public convenience requires and the best interest of the community will be substantially served by the issuance of the liquor license because: "It is Circle K's objective to provide a product, accessible in a convenient manner that meets the need of the surrounding community. The Police Department disapproval is based on concerns with the location, specifically with the number of existing liquor licenses in the area. The Police Department does not believe that adding an establishment that sells liquor in this area meets the public needs or convenience; particularly due to the elevated number of transients in the area.
The Planning Department disapproval is based on the applicant's failure to obtain the required Use Permit. |

RFA 04-006F - CABLING SERVICES - REQUIREMENTS CONTRACT |
(Continued from September 16, 2009) - Request to authorize additional expenditures on Agreement P-7392-05 with Tel Tech Networks, Tempe, Arizona. The contract is the result of a competitively bid State of Arizona contract (AD020193). The use of the State of Arizona contract was authorized by formal Council action on September 17, 2003. Annual expenditures were estimated to be $1,750,000; based on actual history, annual expenditures are $1,875,500 since contract usage is greater than originally estimated.
Funds are available in various departments' Operating and Capital budgets.
The subject firm is eligible to do business with the City of Phoenix until November 26, 2009, by its compliance with the affirmative action requirements of the City Code, Chapter 18, Article IV or V. The firm is responsible for maintaining its eligibility during the life of the contract and failure to do so may result in termination of the contract.
