Do I
need an inspection?
At this time, the Phoenix Fire Code
does not require occupancies to have an annual inspection. All occupancies in the City
are required to comply with the Fire Code at all times. We highly
recommend you have an inspection to ensure your business complies with
the Fire Code and is safe for you, your employees, and your customers.
The Fire Department does have the authority to conduct an inspection if
it is believed that a violation exists. Facilities that are licensed
through the State of Arizona may be required by the State to have
periodical inspections done.
How can I request a
fire inspection?
To request a general fire
inspection, please contact the Fire Prevention Division at
602-262-6771, Monday - Friday 8AM-5PM. It may take 2-4 business days
for a Fire Prevention Specialist to contact you to schedule an
appointment. You may also send an E-mail to Fire Prevention with
your request by

Do I need to have
emergency equipment inspected?
Yes. The Fire Code requires fire extinguishers, fire alarms, sprinklers
systems, and standpipes* to be serviced on an annual basis. Other
systems may require inspections at different times throughout the year.
Fire protection and extinguishing systems can only be installed
and serviced by
companies registered with the Phoenix Fire Department
to perform such work in the City of Phoenix. If you have any questions
please call 602-262-6771.
*This is not a complete list of all required
life safety equipment that requires servicing.
Are fireworks
allowed in the City of
Phoenix?
No. Fireworks are illegal in the state
of Arizona. Firework shows can only be done in Phoenix, by approved
pyrotechnic operators, under permit by the Fire Department. Snap Caps
are also illegal in Maricopa County. “Champagne Party Poppers” are the only
legal “firework” type product.
