ELECTRICIAN HELPER

DISTINGUISHING FEATURES OF THE CLASS:

The fundamental reason this classification exists is to perform electrical maintenance and repair work on Traffic Signal intersections not requiring journey level skills. An Electrician Helper either assists a journey level Electrician in complex maintenance and repair work, or accomplishes such work under the supervision of a journey level Electrician, or works independently at moderately complex electrical maintenance, repair, or installation duties, with work inspected by a journey level Electrician. The Electrician Helper is expected to work with less supervision and a higher level of skill than an Apprentice, but does not assume journey level responsibility. Electrician Helpers work under the general supervision of an Electrical Maintenance Foreman; work is inspected in progress and upon completion, and performance is evaluated on the basis of quality and quantity of work.

ACCEPTABLE EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING:
Three years experience as an assistant to or a worker for a journey-level electrician. Other combinations of experience and education that meet the minimum requirements may be substituted.
