The Thunderbirds Teen Center located in north Phoenix provides a wide variety of innovative, affordable recreation programs to neighborhood youth ages 12-18 during after school and non-supervised hours.
The primary goal of the Thunderbirds Teen Center is to provide youth with an inventory of skills and positive experiences that will help promote self-development. The center provides instruction in dance, theater, sports, music, job development, cultural awareness, social issues, personal growth, travel and the outdoors.
Thunderbirds Teen Center classes range from daily or weekly programs to one-time special classes to teach a skill. Classes are structured to be relevant to teens. Teens also can drop-in at the center to play ping-pong, foosball, pool, video and table games or just to listen to music. Special events include tournaments, dances, parties, talent shows, adventure trips, and sports leagues.
Amenities
Recording Studio The Thunderbirds Teen Center offers a state of the art recording studio to record tracks and vocals for teens. The equipment and studio can be used by teens ages 13-18 with an appointment for a minimal fee.
Classrooms – The center has two classrooms and a multi-purpose room. The rooms are used for presentations and special events.
Game room – With pool tables, ping pong and video games the game room can offer recreational opportunities for almost any teen.
Dance room – With a full wall of mirrors and a great music system the dance room is the perfect place for participants to dance and perform their talents.
