The Washington Activity Center, built in 1969, is a multi-generational facility with a full size gymnasium, seven activity rooms and an auditorium. The center offers a wide variety of activities and services to the public at a minimal cost, including programs for toddlers, youth, teens, adults and seniors. The center sits adjacent to the Washington Park, with boasts opens spaces and traditional park amenities. (Basketball and Volleyball court, Softball & Soccer fields)

On-line registration is now possible for all classes and programs. The class listings below are just general descriptions and not an indication of the center's current schedule. Please check the online class registration system to see the latest schedule of classes at the center.

Center Amenities

Gymnasium: basketball, volleyball, badminton, table tennis & walking club. (16 laps = 1 mile) 602 534-7976.

Fitness Room: Cardio equipment, free weights and 12 multi-use weight machines

Dance Room: Specialty classes include dance, fitness and yoga

Sage Brush Auditorium: seats up to 250 people theater style, available for receptions

Teen Room: video games & teen activities

Active Lounge: billiards, foosball & table tennis

Passive Lounge: lending library, balcony area

Classrooms: seats up to 25 people, available for meetings, call for availability and fees, (602) 262-6971








Specialty Courses & Activities

Seniors & Adults: Senior activities are still a large part of the center which includes a daily walking club in the gym, Bingo on Monday afternoons, 500 cards on Tuesday, Friendship hour on Wednesday at 9:30, Music hour sing along on Thursday and Canasta on Friday. Occasionally the seniors help provide a special events.

Teens: Hip Hop Dance, Teen Basketball Open Gym, Tournaments

Toddlers: Ballet & Tap, Tumbling, Arts & Crafts and much more...

Adult Voluteers
   

The Washington Activity Center Volunteer Association has now disbanded. However new volunteers are always welcome and training is provided to them.

   
Teen Voluteers
   

The Washington Activity Center has volunteer opportunities for teens ages 13 to 18 years of age. Volunteer duties include front desk assistance, activity planning and special event assistance. New volunteers are always welcome and training is provided to them.
