The Phoenix Public Transit Department has opened a supplemental application process for 2009 JARC/New Freedom process grants.

Applications are due Sept. 17, 2009 at 4:00 p.m.

The purpose of the New Freedom grant program is to encourage services and facility improvements to address the transportation needs of persons with disabilities that go beyond those required by the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).  Funds are available to support the capital and operating costs of new public transportation service targeted toward people with disabilities or public transportation alternatives that go beyond those required by the ADA.

Job Access Reverse Commute (JARC) is a program under the Federal Transit Administration of the US Department of Transportation.  The purpose of the JARC grant program is to assist states and localities in developing new or expanded transportation services that connect welfare recipients and other low income persons to jobs and other employment related services.
