Housing and Urban Development (HUD), Most Valuable Player Award

(October 2007) The city’s Equal Opportunity Department (EOD) was selected to receive the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development’s (HUD) Phoenix Field Office's Most Valuable Partner Award, for supporting HUD's initiative of ensuring equal opportunity in housing. This award recognizes the innovative leadership EOD provides through community outreach activities performed in underserved areas of the community while increasing awareness of the Fair Housing Act.

Neighborhood Services Department Receives Recognition from the National Association of Housing and Redevelopment

(July 2007) Phoenix received national recognition for its efforts at removing neighborhood blight, building infill housing and removing health and safety hazards from homes in the community. Read news release

American Society for Public Administration, Superior Service Award

(May 2007) The Westwood Rental Renaissance Team (WRRT) received national recognition for closing a crime-ridden, 156-unit apartment complex, working with police to shut down an illegal, after-hours club that was the source of constant gunfire and prostitution, and providing approximately 300 underprivileged children with food and gifts.
