(March 2011) Sunshine Review, a non-profit organization dedicated to state and local government transparency, recognized phoenix.gov with a 2011 Sunny Award for exceeding transparency standards for the content it provides to residents. Government Technology, Outstanding IT Professional Award

(May 2010) Lynn Fraser, lead information technology systems specialist in Information Technology Services, received the honor for her work and leadership on major IT projects over the last few years. The awards, recognizing the state's best and brightest public-sector IT professionals, were presented for the first time at the Arizona Digital Government Summit on May 18. Read More

Sunshine Review, 2010 Sunny Award

(March 2010) The city's official Web site, phoenix.gov, received the recognition for the online content it provides to residents. The site earned an “A” transparency grade, one of 39 out of 5,000 government sites analyzed by the organization. The only other winner from Arizona was Pinal County’s site at pinalcountyaz.gov. Digipalooza OverDrive, 2008 Digital Pioneer Award

(July 2008) Phoenix Public Library received the award in recognition of exceptional leadership and excellence in delivering digital media to the community. The award was presented at Digipalooza OverDrive’s International User Group Conference in Cleveland, Ohio.

Public Technology Institute, 2007-2008 Technology Solutions Awards - Significant Achievement

(May 2008) The Neighborhood Services Department (NSD) received the award for implementing the use of laptops, docking ports and wireless printers for its housing rehabilitation specialists to use in the field.

(May 2008) The Public Technology Institute (PTI), a national, non-profit technology organization that promotes the use of technology to achieve excellence in local governance and management, recently recognized the city of Phoenix with the awards.

City of Phoenix Public Works Department, Electrical Apprentice of the Year

(April 2008) Aviation electrician Erica Thomas received the honor following 8,000 hours of training and classroom instruction. Erica works in the Facilities and Service division and joined the Aviation Department from the Public Works Department.

Center for Digital Government, Top Ten Digital Cities 2007

(November 2007) The Center for Digital Government, a national research and advisory institute on information technology policies and best practices in state and local government, recently recognized Phoenix as one of the Top Ten Digital Cities for 2007.

Public Technology Institute, Technology Solutions Award

(May 2007) The Neighborhood Services Department (NSD) was recognized nationally for its use of the Geographic Information System (GIS) in a Web-based application that enables city staff and law enforcement entities to share graffiti-related data.

(May 2007) The city won a PTI Solution award for a text resizing enhancement to the phoenix.gov site, and honorable mention for the "Common Contact Us Page" and IVR/Web projects.

National Association of State Chief Information Officers/Public Technology Institute, Best in Tech Award

(Nov. 2006) The Neighborhood Services Department (NSD) was recognized nationally for use of mobile technology to allow code enforcement inspectors to access databases remotely by using computer laptops and the citywide wireless network.

CIO Magazine, CIO 100 Award

(Aug. 2005) For the sixth consecutive year, Phoenix was honored with the award, which recognizes companies and organizations around the world that exemplify the highest level of operational and strategic excellence in the use of technology.

(Aug. 2005) Peg Davis, deputy chief information officer in the city’s Information Technology Department, was selected as one of the rising stars of information technology as tomorrow’s technology leaders.

(June 2005) The Neighborhood Services Department (NSD) was recognized by the PTI for its graffiti flash camera project that catches graffiti vandals in the act.
