Phoenix City Council District 3 On the Issues

In this episode of “On the Issues,” Councilman Bill Gates meets with the Harry Markley, the new police commander of Desert Horizon Precinct. He learns how residents can get involved with Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central Arizona and he highlights how to ‘go green’ and opt out of receiving telephone books at your home. To close to show, Councilman Gates meets with Steve Thompson, a board member from Local First Arizona to discuss the importance of shopping locally this holiday season.

In previous episodes of “On the Issues,” Councilman Bill Gates features the 2011 Heart Ball and the Halle Heart Children’s Museum.  He highlights the story of retired Phoenix Police Officer Jason Schechterle and learns about his new nonprofit organization, Beyond the Flames.  He discusses the services and resources provided by the Phoenix Workforce Connection and to close the show, he gets an overview of the city’s voting centers.
