Goals and Objectives
The program recognized and honors the outstanding achievements of young people, enhances the perception of youth and raises community awareness of the positive contributions of youth.
Awards
- One young man and one young woman from each of the eight city council districts will be selected as a Council District winner and will receive $250.
- One young man and one young woman will be selected from among the district winners as the overall winners and receive an additional $2,000 plus two round-trip airline tickets from Southwest Airlines.
- Winners from each city district and the citywide young man and young woman of the year will be recognized at a luncheon and in city publicity materials. District winners will also have an opportunity to participate in citywide programs and special appearances to promote youth issues.
Eligibility
- You must live within Phoenix city limits and be in 9th through 12th grade.
- If selected as a semifinalist, a copy of your official transcript and one letter of recommendation from a non-relative must be submitted.
- Finalists must be available in person for interviews on February 27, 2010 during the following times:
Young Women: 8am - 12:30pm
Young Men: 12:45pm - 5pm
- Winners must be available to attend the awards luncheon on Thursday, April 16, 2010.
Application
Applications must include your name, contact information, and a short personal statement. The personal statement may not exceed 750 words.
