Achievement

JUNIOR ACHIEVEMENT OF CENTRAL ARIZONA, INC. & ALL VALLEY SCHOOL DISTRICTS

Provides young people with practical economic education programs and experiences in the competitive private enterprise system. Programs include: Business Basics, Project Business, Applied Economics and the Economics of Staying in School.



Leadership

NANCY JORDAN, PHOENIX COLLEGE, MARICOPA COMMUNITY COLLEGES & PHOENIX UNION HIGH SCHOOL DISTRICT

Increase the number of students who achieve a bachelor's degree after successfully completing high school and community college degrees. The ACE Program, designed and implemented by Ms. Jordan, recruits students who have great potential regardless of their academic standing.



Innovation

INTEL CORPORATION & PALMDALE TRADITIONAL SCHOOL

Increase the number of students performing at the appropriate grade level. Provide education enrichment programs such as Saturday school sessions and the Afternoon Tutorial program, in which Intel employees tutor students. Other programs include an Awards Program, Teacher Incentive Program, Field Trips and Science Competition.



Public Agencies/Non-Profit

FRIENDLY HOUSE COMMUNITY BASED ORGANIZATION & MURPHY SCHOOL DISTRICT

Provide Leadership classes for 4th, 5th and 6th grade students to teach leadership skills, problem solving techniques, and self esteem. Provide Safety First Classes for K-3rd grade students to teach all aspects of safety including: safe touch, stranger danger, safe play and household safety. Provide counseling services in the areas of substance abuse, domestic violence/child abuse, behavioral problems, and emotional problems. Provide adult education in the form of GED classes, English as a Second Language classes, literacy classes, and citizenship classes.



Small Business

KTVW CHANNEL 33 & SOUTH MOUNTAIN HIGH SCHOOL

Provide students with hands-on experience in a professionally operated television studio. Provide students with an opportunity to develop personal career goals and expertise in the communication field. Provide relevance to skills acquired in the classroom. Students receive on-the-job training in a professional environment five days a week.



Special Recognition

JOHN C. LINCOLN HOSPITAL & SUNNYSLOPE ELEMENTARY SCHOOL

Provide hospital services for children whose lack of medical or dental care is impacting their academic performance in the classroom. A directory of doctors provides free care to students with medical problems.
