Small Business

School Partner: Camelback High School

Business Partner: Searer, Robbins, and Stephens, Inc. Architecture

For the past eighteen years, Jeff Stephens has volunteered to teach public speaking skills to Camelback High School junior and senior marketing and business office students. He has touched the lives of over 3,000 children. The format used is through Toastmaster’s International. The students walk away with listening, speaking, and writing skills that is preparing them for the workplace. But most importantly, they walk away with a teacher, friend and mentor for life! Jeff’s commitment to us is continuous and has withstood over time. This recognition would mean a lot to me and the many Camelback High School Marketing Students, because Jeff Stephens is our CHAMPION!

Youth Development

School Partner: Hidden Hills Elementary School

Business Partner: John C. Lincoln Network

An exciting partnership exists between the John C. Lincoln Health Foundation and the Hidden Hills Elementary School Garden Science Class 4-H Club. This committed partnership has proven beneficial to both parties involved. The students at Hidden Hills planned, planted, and harvested school gardens to provide lush lettuce, crisp radishes, and a host of other healthy vegetables for hungry children and families served by the Desert Mission Food Bank. This partnership expresses the commitment that both Hidden Hills Elementary School (Hidden Hills) and John C. Lincoln Health Network (JCLHN) have for Phoenix youth by developing caring relationships between two very different communities.

Workforce Development

School Partner: Suns-Diamondbacks Education Academy

Business Partner: Communities In Schools of Arizona, COSTCO Wholesale, APS, Arizona Diamondbacks, Phoenix Suns, and Honeywell

Under the direction of Communities In Schools of Arizona (CISA), a business-education partnership was developed that resulted in the Suns-Diamondbacks Education Academy (SDEA). The Academy is a small-school learning environment created through a partnership among (CISA), Phoenix Union High School District (PUHSD), Phoenix Suns, Arizona Diamondbacks, COSTCO Wholesale, APS and Honeywell. The partners strongly believe alternative and reentry programs help students complete their education when barriers prevent them from being successful in a traditional high school environment.
