Description The Public Transit Department is administering the FY 2011 application process for the Job Access and Reverse Commute (JARC) grant program. The JARC Program assists states and localities with capital and operating funds for developing transportation services that connect welfare recipients and other low-income persons to jobs and other employment-related services. Eligible applicants include private non-profit organizations, state or local governmental authorities, and operators of public transportation services including private operators.
It is anticipated that approximately $1.8 million is available within the Phoenix/Mesa Urbanized Area in Maricopa County through the Federal Transit Administration grant program. Recipient agencies' programs are selected through a competitive process administered by the city of Phoenix Public Transit Department as designated by the governor of Arizona. The Federal Transit Administration is expected to award the funds by mid- to late 2011.

Description The Public Transit Department is administering the FY 2011 application process for the New Freedom grant program. The New Freedom Program supports new public transportation services and public transportation alternatives beyond those required by the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). Funding for capital and/or operating funds for transportation services for persons with disabilities is offered through this Federal Transit Administration grant program. Eligible applicants include private non-profit organizations, state or local governmental authorities, and operators of public transportation services including private operators.
It is anticipated that approximately $0.9 million is available within the Phoenix/Mesa Urbanized Area in Maricopa County through the Federal Transit Administration grant program.
