Stimulus Grant Announcement
As you all know, I’ve been making regular trips to Washington this year, to make our best case for putting Stimulus Funds (Recovery and Reinvestment funds) to good and efficient work here in Phoenix. And to up until now, we have been awarded $233 Million.
This morning, and as a direct result of my most recent trip to Washington – we have been informed that an additional $1,725,349 will be coming to Phoenix – and to the Phoenix Police Department’s HIKE program.
HIKE stands for “Home Invasion Kidnapping Enforcement” – and these funds will allow us to hire two prosecutors, two intelligence analysts – and to buy state-of-the-art surveillance equipment.
That will allow us to “Drill Down” behind the surface – and get deeper into the organizations. We’ll be able to gather more intelligence and evidence – better analyze it – work closely with the FBI and the DEA – and prosecute “The Worst of the Worst”.
So all the hard work is paying off for our Community. We’re creating jobs – building important infrastructure projects – helping the environment – and now, investing even more in the safety of our community.
If I can bring back a couple million bucks every time I go to DC – I’m gonna be making a whole lot more trips.
