The city of Phoenix will host the second annual Energy Awareness Expo, celebrating Energy Awareness Month, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Thursday, Oct. 27, at Cesar Chavez Plaza, 201 W. Washington St. Participants will have the chance to sit inside a Nissan Leaf, 100-percent electric, zero-emission car, and learn more about how it works.
“Awareness really is the first step in changing the way we use energy in our daily lives,” said Carolyn Bristo, Phoenix sustainability officer. “This event will offer information and ideas on how the small changes we each make can add up to a more sustainable Phoenix for all.”
Participating partners include: Salt River Project, U.S. Green Building Council, Sun Valley Solar Solutions, Solar City, Arizona Public Service, Arizona SmartPower, Go Green World Products, Honeywell International, Johnson Controls, Ameresco Southwest, ECOtality, Fifty First Century Lighting, Southwest Gas, Sky Engineering and city of Phoenix departments.
Phoenix’s own Safety Patrol band will perform new songs from their latest CD, Safety is for Everyone, plus old favorites.
