Councilman Simplot Unveils Heard Museum Point of Interest Sign at Encanto Central Station

Councilman Tom Simplot, along with representatives from the Heard Museum and METRO Light Rail, will unveil a point of interest sign located at the Encanto Central station (Central Avenue and Encanto Boulevard) designating the Heard Museum as a point of interest. The event will take place at 1 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 20, at the Encanto Central station.

The Heard Museum point of interest sign will highlight the station’s proximity to the museum along the light-rail system. The Encanto Central station art reflects the nearby Heard Museum by using pre-Columbian, Indian and modern motifs. One section of the art has towers, which reflect high-rises on both sides of the station.

The 20-mile, light-rail system is on schedule to open Saturday, Dec. 27, and will link Phoenix to the neighboring communities of Tempe and Mesa and include stops at attractions like the Phoenix Art Museum, the Heard Museum, Chase Field and the U.S. Airways Center.
