Councilman Mattox Participates in Park Revitalization Project with NBA Cares and KaBoom!

Councilman Claude Mattox will help to revitalize Holiday Park, 4530 N. 67th Ave., Friday, Feb. 13, in the afternoon. Mattox will return to the District 5 park at 3:45 p.m. to participate in a ribbon-cutting ceremony to celebrate the new improvements.

In cooperation with KaBoom!, a national nonprofit organization that helps communities build playgrounds for children, volunteers from NBA Cares and the surrounding community will install new playground equipment and help restore existing park facilities.

“As a firm advocate of child safety, it is so important that we provide both safe and fun recreational environments for our children in their communities,” Mattox said. “I think this project is a great way to do that, and I’m excited to be able to be a part of it.”

The project is part of the NBA Cares Day of Service, in connection with the upcoming 2009 NBA All-Star Game on Sunday, Feb. 15, at the US Airways Center. NBA Cares will sponsor community outreach events throughout the city during All-Star week.
