Councilman Mattox Encourages Residents to Watch Kids Around Water
Councilman Claude Mattox will coordinate the placement of 40 water safety signs across the Valley, reminding residents to watch children near swimming pools.
The signs, which are eight feet high and 20 feet long, will remain in place through swim season, roughly from Memorial Day to Labor Day. The signs also promote the Web sites of two water safety programs: Phoenix Children’s Hospital and the United Phoenix Firefighters Save R Kids.
Signs will be placed strategically throughout the Greater Phoenix area, spanning a north-south area from Union Hills Drive to Broadway Road, between Glendale Municipal Airport and 40th Street. This will be Mattox’s fourth consecutive summer launching the public awareness campaign, which is funded by private donations.
