PHOENIX’S FEDERAL RECOVERY FUNDS TOP $175 MILLION – AND COUNTING...

Phoenix, AZ – Phoenix Mayor Phil Gordon announced today that Phoenix, to date, has received more than $175 million as part of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act.

This week alone, Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood visited Phoenix to announce $10.5 million for taxiway renovation at Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport and approximately $24 million for light rail in Phoenix. That is in addition to a $15 million energy grant, also announced this week.

Gordon, who has made three trips to Washington, D.C., in the past three weeks to present “shovel-ready” projects to the President, Vice President and Cabinet Members, said, “This is an administration that understands the critical role cities can play in our economic recovery. We have made compelling cases for our projects and are already putting people back to work.”

The Mayor encourages everyone to visit www.phoenix.gov/recovery for the latest reports on Phoenix funding and how it is being put to use.
