Officers arrest America's Most Wanted suspect during burglary

Last Night at 9:30 PM, Phoenix Police Officers responded to a burglary in progress call in the area of 300 W Lynwood Street. A suspect was trying to force entry into the back door of the residence. This suspect was arrested by patrol officers and identified as Michael Chaves, w/m, 40 years of age.

During the investigation, officers determined that Chaves was wanted for probation violation out of Texas and was recently profiled on American’s Most Wanted as a suspect in a brutal homicide out of Bradford Connecticut. Information about the homicide in Connecticut can be found on the AMW website. During an interview conducted by our investigators, Chaves made statements regarding his involvement in this crime.

Chaves was booked into MCSO jail, from charges related to last nights incident, the outstanding warrant from Texas and we are currently working with the City of Bradford on an extradition order.
