Phoenix detective named AZ Crime Analyst of the Year

Detective Sam PalmerIt takes someone who has a penchant for detail to successfully perform the duties of a police crime analyst. Phoenix Police Detective Sam Palmer not only meets that requirement, he has proven to go beyond what is expected. The Arizona Association of crime Analysts have recognized Detective Palmer by honoring him with the organization’s Crime Analyst of the Year Award.

Being recognized for great work by supervisors and co-workers means a lot to most people. Detective Palmer’s supervisor, Sergeant Stefani McMichael-Gombar provided this insight into the kind of work that is demonstrated by him on a daily basis.

“Sam is an outstanding detective who quickly responds to assist a wide range of units in their efforts to identify crime trends, sprees, and other types of crimes. He provides statistical information, maps, and geographic profiles on subjects to assist investigative units on a variety of cases. He is especially knowledgeable in the area of social networking sites—providing him the ability to locate usable information and evidence for a variety of detectives ranging from patrol Neighborhood Enforcement Team (NET) squads to detectives who work the Robbery Unit. His hard work and dedication have been the catalyst for the identification and arrest of suspects such as the recent ‘Wigged Bandit’ case.”

Detective Sam Palmer is a great example of the many hard-working and dedicated individuals who work within the Phoenix Police Department. It is because of people like Sam that our community is a much safer place to live.
