Man killed while giving a cigarette to suspect

Click for largerA 35 year-old man was shot and killed by an unknown suspect as he tried to give him a cigarette. At about 3:15 a.m. on October 10th, 2009 at 4th Street and Indian School Road, the victim and another person went to a convenience store at 3rd Street and were walking towards 7th Street on Indian School Road, when the suspect approached the victim and asked for a cigarette. The victim appeared to be getting a cigarette for him when the suspect shot him. The suspect then fled in light colored older model passenger car that had a “sloped front”. At this point the motive for the shooting is unknown.

The suspect is described as a 20 – 25 year-old Black male, approximately 6 feet tall, with unshaven scruffy facial hair. He was last seen wearing a beanie cap and dark baggy jacket.
