Phoenix officer heralded for his work to prevent DUI tragedies

Outstanding work ethic and expertise in detecting, arresting and processing impaired drivers recently brought recognition to Phoenix police DUI Enforcement Officer Michael Chase. He received the MADD 2010 DUI Enforcement Award at the organization’s annual award banquet in Phoenix on February 12, 2010.

For more than seven years, Officer Mike Chase has been assigned to work as a member of the DUI Enforcement Squad in the Phoenix Police Department’s Traffic Bureau. The 12-year veteran has been conducting DUI enforcement throughout Phoenix and during that time, has passionately demonstrated his commitment to removing impaired drivers from valley roadways. He has become proficient at detecting, arresting and processing those drivers and that, in turn, has resulted in multiple DUI suspects being arrested on every shift he works. His unwavering work ethic earned him the respect of his peers as well as others in his line of work. He has continually led his squad in the number of DUI arrests made and citations issued.

During the last quarter of 2009 and into early 2010, Officer Chase was responsible for arresting 93 DUI suspects and issued 549 citations, accounting for 51 percent of the total number of DUI arrests made and 40 percent of the total number of citations issued by his squad. Chase posed with MADD and Phoenix Police representatives after receiving the prestigious award.
