Mother arrested in death of newborn
On January 11, 2010, a newborn infant was discovered in a trash dumpster at 2032 West Atlanta. The newborn was pronounced deceased by the Phoenix Fire Department after family members tried to transport the infant to the hospital.
Phoenix Police Department homicide investigators have probable cause to believe the newborn infant was born alive and the mother of the child, Brittney Williams, had knowledge of this.
After spending time with the child in her residence the mother took the newborn infant to a vacant home down the street and placed her in a trash dumpster.
Investigators arrested Ms. Williams on Thursday morning, January 14, 2010 and she was booked into MCSO jail on homicide and child abuse charges.
