FUTURE PROJECTIONS
Our Best Guess
Projections for the future are educated guesses about how passenger traffic and traffic movements (aircraft operations) will develop. The numbers depend on many variables - the economy of the nation, the state and local area, the financial strength of the airlines, changes in the travel patterns of the public, air fares, airline schedule changes, changes in government regulations, business climate, economic development forecasts, population forecasts and many other factors. The forecasts are not goals to be met; they serve as a guide to forecast facility requirements that may be needed to meet the expected demand for air travel. Therefore, the projections are adjusted frequently to account for current economic conditions.
The actual and projected numbers for airline passenger traffic, aircraft operations and cargo handled at Sky Harbor International Airport are listed below.

| 2005 | 40.8 million | 563,536 | 333,284 |
| 2010 | 44.6 million | 631,000 | 392,000 |
| 2015 | 50.5 million | 670,000 | 435,000 |
