America's Friendliest Airport

CELL PHONE WAITING LOTS

Free parking may be unheard of at some airports, but not at Sky Harbor. The airport’s Cell Phone Waiting Lots are designated parking areas where drivers may wait in their vehicles, free of charge, while passengers deplane, pick up luggage and walk out to the curb. Lots are available east of Terminal 4 and west of the Terminal 2 parking structure.

The cell phone waiting lot west of Terminal 2 includes 90 paved parking spaces and signage with all airline telephone numbers displayed. An electronic flight information display provides airline flight and arrival information, as well.

Sky Harbor has also added a Parking Assistance Call Box in case drivers have a medical emergency, need a jump start or have a flat tire. "We are happy to re-evaluate our programs and enhance them wherever possible," said Janice Jacobo, Phoenix Aviation Landside Operations Superintendent. "So, thanks to suggestions from our customers we were able to add the new amenity of a restroom."

A second cell phone waiting lot, with 88 paved parking spaces, is located east of the Terminal 4 high profile parking lot, and is easy to access as drivers enter the airport from the east. This lot also has an electronic flight information display, signage with airline telephone numbers, a restroom facility and an attendant from 7 a.m. to 1 a.m.

The most important rule while using either lot is "stay with your vehicle." The waiting areas are designed to be used for 30 minutes or less. The cell phone lots are among the many customer service amenities that Sky Harbor offers, and according to Jacobo, among the most popular.

"Drivers appreciate the fact that they don’t have to choose between circling the airport and paying to park in the garage when they come to Sky Harbor," Jacobo said.
