This item is scheduled to allow the City Manager to report on changes in the City Council Agenda and provide brief informational reports on urgent issues. The City Council may discuss these reports but no action will be taken.

This report provides the City Council with information on the Development Services Department’s (DSD) efforts to assist and promote adaptive reuse of existing structures for new development. This report communicates the potential benefits adaptive reuse of existing buildings can provide to the community, as well as the major challenges that face the business owner when utilizing the regulatory and development process to reuse existing buildings. This report also describes DSD’s current and proposed efforts to address these challenges.
Staff recommends the
formation of an Adaptive Reuse Task Force as outlined in the City Council
Report, with the responsibility to report back to City Council on their
progress within the next 120 days.
