Cactus League Spring Training
We'd like to welcome the Los Angeles Dodgers and Chicago White Sox to their new training facility in Phoenix! Built by the city of Glendale, the new stadium joins two others in Phoenix, which are home to the Milwaukee Brewers and Oakland Athletics.
Phoenix is the only city in the country that is home to four major league teams for spring training. More »

October is Teen Read Month at Phoenix Public Library
Phoenix Public Library will celebrate Teen Read Month in October, encouraging teens to read just “for the fun of it.” To celebrate, library locations will host special activities for teens, ages 12 -18, including workshops on monster makeup, T-shirt silk-screening, drip painting, computer technology and astrology. -
Parks Department Taking Applications for 2008 APS Electric Light Parade
Though winter is months away, organizers for the APS Electric Light Parade already are accepting applications to participate in the Dec. 6 holiday gala. The theme for the 2008 parade is “Preserving a Family Holiday Tradition,” and entry fees range from no charge up to $400. -

Learn More About the 2008 General Election Ballot Measures
To learn more about the eight initiatives appearing on the November ballot, plan to attend a Brown Bag conversation on Friday, Oct. 10. The presentation by the city’s Government Relations staff will describe the significance of each initiative and the effect of a "yes" or "no" vote.
