Early Voting Information

On Tuesday, August 27, 2019, the City of Phoenix will conduct a Special Election in which registered voters will decide on two ballot measures that propose to amend City Charter provisions pertaining to Light Rail and Pensions. These two ballot measures are schedueled to appear on the ballot for the Aug. 27, 2019 Special Election.
1. The first measure is a proposed Charter Amendment submitted by Initiative I-4-18 pertaining to Light Rail.
2. The second measure is a proposed Charter Amendment submitted by Initiative I-1-18 pertaining to City of Phoenix Pensions.
Phoenix voters can vote early either by mail or at the early voting location.
Permanent Early Voting List
Arizona law allows voters to place their name on a Permanent Early Voting List, which is maintained by the County Recorder. Once you are on this list, you do not have to request that an early ballot be mailed to you for each election. Instead, by being on this list, an early ballot will be mailed to you approximately 27 days prior to the election. For more information about this list, visit the Maricopa County Recorder's website.
Requests for an Early Ballot by Mail
Registered voters who are not on the Permanent Early Voting List, but wish to receive an early ballot by mail, may request a ballot. Request forms are available by clicking on the link below. Request forms can also be obtained by calling the City Clerk Department, Records and Elections Division, at the phone number listed below. The City Clerk must receive a signed, written request for an early ballot by mail no later than 5 p.m. Friday, Aug. 16.
Mailing of the Early Ballots
Early ballots will be mailed beginning about 27 days before the election (July 31). If you will be away from your regular mailing address at that time and wish to have your ballot mailed to another address, please contact the City Clerk Department at the phone number listed below. The early ballot packet will include instructions for voting the ballot.
Voted early ballots must be received by the City Clerk Department by 7 p.m. on Election Day, Tuesday, August 27, 2019. The ballots may be returned by mail, be delivered to the City Clerk Department at City Hall, 200 W. Washington St., or dropped off at any voting center location.
Check the status of your Early Ballot
You can obtain detailed information, such as when your early ballot was mailed, received, or processed for tabulation. To check the status of your early ballot, you will need to provide basic information along with either your voter registration number or your state-issued ID number. This information is required in order to positively identify you as the voter and the information you enter must match the information on your voter registration record. Early Voting Locations
Voters who wish to vote early may vote early at Phoenix City Hall, 200 W. Washington St., 15th floor, between Wednesday, July 31 and Friday, August 23.
