Mayor Greg Stanton Statement on Mayors’ DACA National Day of ActionMayor Greg Stanton Statement on Mayors’ DACA National Day of Action<div class="ExternalClassE169667A18CF4B72A674B0EC2A30A8F1"><div>Mayor Greg Stanton released the following statement as part of a U.S. Conference of Mayors National Day of Action on DACA, the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program. President Donald Trump is contemplating ending the program.</div><div> </div><div>“I stand with the DREAMers of Phoenix and across the nation who have earned the right to make a better life in our communities. </div><div> </div><div>DACA has made it possible for nearly 30,000 young women and men in Arizona to step out of the shadows and contribute to their communities and our economy. When President Trump talks about getting rid of DACA, he is telling the American people that he wants to rip apart families and divide our country. He wants to take the billions of dollars that DREAMers contribute out of our economy. But most importantly the President is telling us he wants students, community leaders, our neighbors, brothers, sisters, friends and families to disappear. That is unacceptable, both morally and economically.</div><div> </div><div>Phoenix values the young women and men that this program has benefited, and they have the support of Mayors across the nation. I am urging President Trump to continue DACA for the good of our cities, our families, and our country.”</div><div><br></div><div style="text-align:center;"><strong>-30-</strong></div></div>8/29/2017 5:55:00 PMRobbie Sherwood 480-246-7944
