Councilwoman Kate Gallego from Council District 8 will offer opening remarks.</p><p> </p><p>This National Poetry Month event, which is free and open to the public, is hosted by South Mountain Community College and Library, located at 7040 S. 24th Street in Phoenix. The public is invited to bring a favorite poem to share. Throughout April, explore Rosemarie and her work through Phoenix Public Library's celebration of National Poetry Month.</p><p> </p><p>National Poetry Month was inaugurated by the Academy of American Poets in 1996. Over the years, it has become the largest literary celebration in the world with schools, publishers, libraries, booksellers and poets celebrating poetry's vital place in our culture. Rosemarie Dombrowski, the inaugural poet laureate for Phoenix, began her two-year term in January 2017.
