Councilman Bill Gates Celebrates Council Approval of Real Estate Consultant to Explore Redevelopment of Sunnyslope Village Center AreaCouncilman Bill Gates Celebrates Council Approval of Real Estate Consultant to Explore Redevelopment of Sunnyslope Village Center Area<div class="ExternalClassF1F5E577CE1F4475A21DB230BF1290B4"><p>​Phoenix Councilman Bill Gates applauded City Council passage Wednesday of a measure to identify and hire a real estate market consultant to study several city-owned Neighborhood Initiative Areas (NIA) for redevelopment, including the Village Center NIA in Sunnyslope.​<br><br>“Understanding the trends in our residential and commercial real estate markets is essential to making the best decisions on redeveloping and activating city owned properties,” Councilman Gates said. “This is another great step to reinvigorating Sunnyslope, and I look forward to taking the consultants’ findings on the area to residents and business owners to chart a path forward for this area.”<br> <br> The Village Center NIA in Sunnyslope is generally bounded by Central Avenue to 7th Street; Dunlap Avenue to the ACDC Canal. It is one of five city-owned parcels to be studied by the consultant. The results of the study will assist staff in developing strategies for City-owned property and identifying challenges and opportunities in redevelopment efforts.<br> <br> Prior to passage by the full council on Feb. 17, the City Council’s Neighborhoods, Housing and Development Subcommittee unanimously voted at its Jan. 19 meeting to recommend full council approval of this item.</p></div>2/18/2016 3:00:00 PMDavid Urbinato602-495-5405
