The inclusion of prayer in public meetings is a time-honored tradition that has stood the constitutional test, though it has taken different forms.</div><div><br></div><div>Today’s vote begins a new policy of tapping our police and fire chaplains to deliver the invocation before formal council meetings.</div><div><br></div><div>Our police chaplains are committed volunteers with the city; through their service to our officers and residents, they understand the diversity of our community.
