She interviews Phoenix Fire Capt. Daniel Cheatham to talk about the importance of both installing residential smoke alarms throughout the home and keeping them properly maintained. Experts recommend residents change batteries in their smoke alarms once a year and replace smoke alarms every ten years. Capt.
