Councilman Daniel Valenzuela's Statement on Award of Federal Working Families Grant for Maryvale ParentsCouncilman Daniel Valenzuela's Statement on Award of Federal Working Families Grant for Maryvale Parents<div class="ExternalClassBA9B157C3DE74A3488CD064F0C9E097B"><div>“Today, Maryvale families received an economic win with the announcement of the U.S. Department of Labor awarding a $4 million grant to provide workforce development and job training to low-income parents to help ​secure targeted skilled occupations, specifically in Healthcare, Information Technology and Business.<br><br>In partnership with the City of Phoenix Community and Economic Development team, we worked hard with many partners to secure these critical funds for our Maryvale families. <br><br>Removing barriers to workforce training in these emerging fields is critical to create long term economic equity and thriving families in West Phoenix. This grant will help parents along the path to meaningful employment and career advancement.”<br><br></div><div>The program is expected to kick off late this year. Maryvale residents that would like to be added to an interest list should call the City’s Workforce Development Office at 602-262-6776.
