Councilman Daniel Valenzuela Kicks off Maryvale Community Connection With Back to School FairCouncilman Daniel Valenzuela Kicks off Maryvale Community Connection With Back to School Fair<div class="ExternalClassB386CFD39FB94506BEFD63D5DDAF2A30"><table cellspacing="0" width="100%" class="ms-rteTable-default"><tbody><tr><td class="ms-rteTable-default" style="width:100%;">​Councilman Daniel Valenzuela will be kicking off a new District 5 neighborhood initiative -- "Maryvale Community Connection" -- this Thursday, July 21 with a back to school resource fair from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Maryvale YMCA, 3825 N. 67<sup>th</sup> Ave. The office will be giving away free backpacks with school supplies to Maryvale children to prepare them for the upcoming school year.<br><br>The goal of the initiative is to connect Maryvale residents, businesses and community leaders to unify neighborhoods, promote economic development and education, and strengthen public safety. The kickoff resource fair will be followed by monthly forums to bring the Maryvale community together.<br><br>"This initiative is an opportunity for Maryvale to discuss burning issues facing the community," Councilman Valenzuela said. "More importantly, it will connect business owners, residents and neighborhood groups to city departments to solve problems and strengthen the Maryvale community we all love."<br><br>Guest speakers will include representatives from city departments to address key neighborhood issues and connect community members with the resources to address their most pressing issues.<br><br>Residents can track events and share details on everyday life in the community on social media with the new hashtag #OurMaryvale.
