Statement from Councilman Daniel Valenzuela on the Death of Gov. Rose MoffordStatement from Councilman Daniel Valenzuela on the Death of Gov. Rose Mofford<div class="ExternalClass832EBDD5257447A6A80E97E36F4028D5"><div>“It was with a heavy heart I learned of the passing of Arizona’s 18th Governor, the Honorable Rose Mofford. Her imprint on the State of Arizona goes far beyond being our first female Governor, but as someone who brought great stability and a sense of focused professionalism to the Executive Office when Arizona needed it most.</div><div><br></div><div>In 1997 my predecessors on the Phoenix City Council had the forethought to rename the Cave Creek Sports Complex in honor of Governor Mofford. The honor was bestowed on her for her spirit, humor, love for this state and city, and her commitment to children and seniors she served throughout her career. Governor Mofford was always a strong supporter of sports and a successful athlete. Over the years she attended various events at the Rose Mofford Sports Complex and always retained a major interest in the facility.</div><div><br></div><div>Governor Mofford was a proud daughter of immigrants and a compassionate leader who was always quick with a kind word and a smile. She was a great Arizonan who will be missed."</div></div>9/16/2016 9:00:00 PMDavid Urbinato602-495-5405
