Councilman Sal DiCiccio, ARA Present Hispanic Heritage Month Proclamation at Ahwatukee RestaurantCouncilman Sal DiCiccio, ARA Present Hispanic Heritage Month Proclamation at Ahwatukee Restaurant<div class="ExternalClass597C537CB5D4455197E804456BF481EB"><div>Councilman Sal DiCiccio and the Arizona Restaurant Association (ARA) this week presented a Phoenix City Proclamation honoring Hispanic restauranteurs, managers, and employees as part of the nationwide Hispanic Heritage Month celebration.</div><div><br></div><div>The proclamation was presented this week at an event at Los Taquitos in Ahwatukee, which is owned by Vicki Ochoa and her family.  Also attending were employees from restaurants in the Phoenix area and SSP America, which operates many restaurants in the newly-designed Terminal 4 at Sky Harbor Airport. </div><div><br></div><div>“The City of Phoenix is proud to recognize Hispanics in the restaurant industry with this Hispanic Heritage Month Proclamation,” said Councilman Sal DiCiccio.  “Vicki at Los Taquitos is an inspiration to all Hispanics who can achieve the American Dream through the opportunities the restaurant industry offers.” </div><div>The national statistics speak volumes about Hispanic-Americans’ impact on the restaurant industry:</div><div><br></div><div>·         The restaurant industry has more Hispanic managers than any other industry</div><div>·         1 in 4 restaurant chefs are Hispanic</div><div>·         Growth in Hispanic-owned restaurants has far outpaced the overall industry</div><div><br></div><div>“As the industry of opportunity, we are proud to have talented entrepreneurs in the Arizona restaurant business,” said Dan Bogert, Arizona Restaurant Association’s COO.  “We have seen a tremendous growth of Hispanic-owned restaurants across the state and are excited to play a role in expanding opportunity for minorities in Arizona.” </div></div>9/23/2016 9:00:00 PMDavid Urbinato602-495-5405
