Statement from Councilman Michael Nowakowski on Safety Training Grant from Governor’s Office of Highway SafetyStatement from Councilman Michael Nowakowski on Safety Training Grant from Governor’s Office of Highway Safety

“Our Fire Department just accepted more than $135,000 to enhance and expand their community safety education efforts. Our firefighters will use these funds to educate residents about the importance of seat belts, properly installed child seats, traffic safety skills for pedestrians and bicyclists and for outreach to high school students about the dangers of impaired and distracted driving.

Our firefighters are usually the first on the scene of tragedies involving vehicles, bikes and pedestrians. With these new funds, our Fire Department will be able to continue to focus on preventing tragedies, and not just responding to them.

I will continue my push to seek all available funds from all sources to keep residents safe, and I want to thank the Phoenix Fire Department and the Governor’s Office of Highway Safety, which awarded the funds, for coming together to save lives.”

10/26/2016 5:00:00 PMDavid Urbinato602-495-5405
