This was a vote that came after the developer worked with this neighborhood group to address their hopes and desires for this area and for our historic preservation efforts.

As the longest serving councilmember representing downtown, I understand the value of historic preservation and the challenges of blending in new housing and other development to make it possible for people to live, work and play in downtown.

The unannounced demolition earlier this year of parts of this building created anger and mistrust in the community. I was pleased to see the developer work with the Roosevelt Action Association to find a way forward. It’s only by using the Team Phoenix approach and working together that we will see the type of development that recognizes our past and looks to the future.”

11/2/2016 10:00:00 PMDavid Urbinato602-495-5405
