Councilman Michael Nowakowski Statement on Police Plan to Boost Patrol PresenceCouncilman Michael Nowakowski Statement on Police Plan to Boost Patrol Presence<div class="ExternalClass43701E6BFB2246F59604593C68EC86EB"><div>“As Chairman of the City Council’s Public Safety and Veterans Subcommittee, I listened closely to residents at last year’s budget hearings concerned about Police staffing. Among residents’ number one concerns was the need for more officers patrolling our streets and faster response times.</div><div><br></div><div>Police Chief Jeri Williams has responded with a plan to reassign approximately 169 positions to patrol services from other areas of the department. I commend Chief Williams for her decisive move to address the priorities of our residents. This move will mean safer conditions for our officers and continued security for our residents.</div><div><br></div><div>We also will continue to move forward with hiring more officers. Since we started with our new Police staffing plan, we’ve added 380 officers, and we are authorized to hire an additional 200 this fiscal year. This will provide our officers even more support as they work every day to keep our streets safe. Our enhanced Police hiring and the chief’s plan to beef up our patrol presence are wins for the Team Phoenix approach – where we listen to residents and put our heads together to deliver real solutions.” </div></div>12/6/2016 5:00:00 PMDavid Urbinato602-495-5405
