Statement from Councilman Michael Nowakowski on the Arrest of Suspect in Serial Street Shooter CaseStatement from Councilman Michael Nowakowski on the Arrest of Suspect in Serial Street Shooter Case

"Today is a great day for the City of Phoenix. The Phoenix Police Department has made an arrest in the case of a string of shootings that claimed the lives of many in west and east-central Phoenix.

This arrest was not possible without the help of the Maryvale Community, who were the eyes and ears during a difficult time of fear and frustration. I also want to thank Silent Witness for being a resource and outlet to the community during this time. Silent Witness' dedication to safer communities is truly commendable.

I want to thank the hardworking police officers in the Maryvale Precinct and citywide, for fighting every day to keep our streets safe. I'd also like to personally thank Chief Jeri Williams for her community outreach efforts and her commitment and dedication to catching this criminal. This is a victory for the Team Phoenix approach – so many came agencies, both state and local came together to make this arrest.

Now that we have a suspect in custody, justice will be served. My thoughts and prayers continue to be with the families of the victims."

Councilman Nowakowski is the chair of the City Council's Public Safety and Veterans Subcommittee.

5/8/2017 10:30:00 PMStephanie Bracken602.534.1209
