Statement from Councilman Michael Nowakowski on Eastlake Park ShootingStatement from Councilman Michael Nowakowski on Eastlake Park Shooting

"What should have been a celebratory day for families turned into a very dangerous situation at Eastlake Park this past Easter Sunday. The shooting that occurred at Eastlake Park is out of character with this area and I am requesting the Phoenix Police Department determine what additional patrol resources may be available for the neighborhood.

This neighborhood is the heart of Phoenix' African-American community. Schools, churches, businesses, and families all make a home in this neighborhood. We want to make sure that everyone knows violence has no place and will find no foothold in this historic and growing area. The relationship between the residents and the police is excellent and we want to build on that. Please remember, if you see something, say something."

Anyone with information about this case is asked to call Silent Witness at 480-WITNESS, or for Spanish Speakers, call 480-TESTIGO. A reward of up to $1,000 may be available for information that leads to an arrest.

4/4/2018 12:00:00 AMNick Valenzuela602-495-5405
