Councilwoman Felicita Mendoza's Statement on the Water Rate ApprovalCouncilwoman Felicita Mendoza's Statement on the Water Rate Approval

"When I was appointed to this seat, I listed infrastructure as one of my top priorities. After investigating and researching this proposal thoroughly, I supported it for two main reasons. First, the predicted depletion of water in Lake Mead and the Colorado River shortage mean we cannot wait and hope for the best. We must take action now to create a water plan for the future of Phoenix. Second, while we may have plenty of water, District 8 has water pipelines dating back to the 1940s and crumbling infrastructure that has been neglected for years. This funding ensures repairing and replacing failing infrastructure, especially in District 8, remains at the forefront of the City of Phoenix's objectives. District 8 deserves its fair share of new water infrastructure. Additionally, I believe accountability and transparency are vital, which is why I also directed staff to create a website with a map for the residents of Phoenix to track the water infrastructure projects funded by this proposal."

1/11/2019 1:50:00 AMNick Valenzuela602-495-5405
