Statement from Councilman Michael Nowakowski on Removal of Census Citizenship QuestionStatement from Councilman Michael Nowakowski on Removal of Census Citizenship Question

“President Trump's decision to back away from his administration's efforts to include a citizenship question on the 2020 Census is a victory for our community. Last year, the city of Phoenix joined a lawsuit with cities and towns across the nation to oppose the question and send the message that everyone in our city matters.

Now that this question has been halted we must begin the hard work of mobilizing our outreach efforts to ensure a complete count. Millions of dollars in federal and state funding are determined by the results of the decennial census and we must do everything in our power to make sure all Phoenix residents are counted so that Phoenix receives our fair share of resources. I look forward to working with our community, our regional census partners, and our city staff to get a complete count of Phoenix."

7/12/2019 3:30:00 AMNick Valenzuela602-495-5405
